History: After hearing that the International Wolf Center in Ely, Minnesota had requested 2 male pups from a breeder that raises strictly arctic-type wolves, Animal Ark learned there would likely be surplus pups available. These wolves are rare in captivity and this was a unique opportunity. When 5 pups were born, the Ark obtained 1 of the 2 remaining females. Rayna was transported by United Airlines and private plane under the careful supervision of volunteer Corky Anderson. Captain Dave Anderson kindly assisted the Ark by making special arrangements for the flights on United and by using his own private plane when one of the commercial flights was delayed. Rayna was initially brought to the Animal Ark as a companion to Loki who passed away in 2006.

History: Nischa and Raven were donated to Animal Ark for educational purposes and as companions to some older wolves originally housed here. They were born about five days apart at Wolf Park in Indiana where wolves are humanely maintained in pack situations and used for education and research purposes. Nischa and Raven are socialized to a number of people, which is an advantage in a captive environment when medicating is necessary, close observation is needed, or moving the animals by leash restraint.
