Animal Ark "A Sanctuary for Life"

	Cordelia Common Name: Great Horned Owl Scientific Name: Bubo virginianus Gender: Female Birth Date: Unknown History: Cordelia was found in a park with an injured elbow. Because of this injury she could no longer fly and therefore could not be released back into the wild. The rehabilitation facility which housed and treated this bird did not want to euthanize her because she was so tractable. Animal Ark was contacted and after several months of working toward obtaining a permit for raptors, everything was finally in order. The owl arrived August 1, 1990. As the first bird of prey species at the Animal Ark, Cordelia challenged the staff to create an enclosure that would meet her special needs. Your tour of the Ark will show you there are now several species of raptors.

Animal Ark is closed during the winter; however we do try to open for one weekend depending on weather. This is a great opportunity to view the animals in their winter coats. Check our calendar or email us at info@animalark.org for more information.

From Reno: Take US 395 North to Red Rock Road (Exit 78). Turn right and drive 11.5 miles to Deerlodge Road. Turn right on Deerlodge Road, drive 1 mile and turn right into signed driveway.

It is advised to call ahead if there is any concern over inclement weather.
