Animal Ark in Your Classroom

During the winter months, when Animal Ark’s facility is closed for the season, our Wildlife Educators are available for in-class presentations!  Our Educators will teach students about a variety of topics using wildlife-related materials and interactive demonstrations.

Who?  Animal Ark’s Outreach Programs are available to grades K-12.

What?  Animal Ark offers three variations:

  1. Standard Outreach with a Carnivore Theme: Your students will learn about biology, anatomy, and ecology through the exemplars of owls, mountain lions, and bears.
  2. Standard Outreach with a Bird of Prey Theme: Your students will learn all about Hawks and Eagles, Falcons, and Owls and their impacts on ecology.
  3. Live Raptor Program: On a limited basis, Animal Ark’s red-tailed hawk, Zechariah, is available to join the Educators and fly through your classroom to inspire your students!  Other topics taught during this presentation are Falcons and Owls.

When?  This program is available during the winter months, typically January through march.  A few programs may be available November or December.

Where?  At your school!  We do the traveling!

How long?  All three variations last approximately one hour, including set up, tear down, and Q&A.

How much?  Either of the Standard Outreach options cost $100 per program (maximum of 200 students per program) while the Live Raptor Program costs $300 per program (maximum of 150 students per program).  Scholarship funding may be available – contact our Education Coordinator at Education@AnimalArk.org or 775-970-3431 to learn more!
