Field Trips

Animal Ark offers three different educational programs to meet your field trip needs!

Experience-Based Environmental Education Program

Who?  Available to uniform groups from grades K-3.

What?  Your students will learn about concepts such as ecology, biology, animal behavior, and geology through viewing our animals, hearing from Wildlife Educators, and participating in fun, grade-specific activities!  Our programs are correlated with the Next Generation Science Standards – contact Education@AnimalArk.org to learn which performance expectations we target for your grade.  Enjoy lunch in our large picnic and playground area following your program.

When?  These programs are available weekdays, except Mondays, April through October.

Where? Animal Ark’s wildlife sanctuary located off Red Rock Road north of Reno.

How long? This program is quite flexible.  We suggest allowing 90 minutes for the entire program.  However, this program allows you to help control the pacing.

How much?  Groups must have a minimum of 20 people for discounted group admission.  Further, scholarships may be available!  Please contact our Education Coordinator at Education@AnimalArk.org or 775-970-3431 for pricing information.

Nature Trail Tours

Who?  Available to uniform groups from grades 4-12.

What?  A trained Wildlife Educator will guide your class through our facility to teach your students about wildlife, behavior, and the environment.  These tours adapt well to the standards you teach!  Enjoy lunch in our large picnic and playground area following the tour.

When?  These programs are available, on a limited basis, weekdays, except Mondays, April through October.

Where?  Animal Ark’s wildlife sanctuary located off Red Rock Road north of Reno.

How long?  Please allow 90 minutes for the tour itself.  There may be minor delays as well such as bus loading and unloading or restroom breaks.

How much?  Groups must have a minimum of 20 people for discounted group admission.  Further, scholarships may be available to defray costs!  Please contact our Education Coordinator at Education@AnimalArk.org or 775-970-3431 for pricing information.

Education Box Program

Who?  This program is designed for groups with young children (e.g. preschools) or those with a wide range of ages (e.g. home school groups, scouts, etc.).

What?  The beauty of this program is its flexibility!  Our Wildlife Educators will meet your group at key locations in the facility with fun items such as claws, skulls, and feathers.  Your students’ interests and your questions will dictate program content from there.  Enjoy lunch in our large picnic and playground area following your program!

When?  These programs are available daily, except Mondays, April through October.

Where?  Animal Ark’s wildlife sanctuary located off Red Rock Road north of Reno.

How long?  Again, this program is designed for ultimate flexibility.  We suggest allowing 90 minutes for the entire program.  However, this program allows you to help control the pacing.
