Lesson Plans Associated with Field Trips to Animal Ark

Animal Ark would like to thank volunteer Michele Farhat for working diligently on creating Lesson Plans for our region’s use.  We designed our Field Trips according to Next Generation Science Standards, but these units will allow you to apply the field trip to Common Core Math and ELA Standards, using pre- and post-field trip activities.  We will continue to post these units as they are completed.

Animal Families: “Animal Ark Exhibits” was written by Shannon Longfield, 2nd grade teacher for Washoe County School District.  This resource discusses a series of lesson plans and resources according to the Guided Language Acquisition Design (GLAD).

Cookie Excavations

In this activity, students attempt to excavate items from cookies and relate their experiences to the effects of varying soils and types of materials paleontologists and archeologists encounter.
