OUR STORY
Learn more about our historic origins, our accomplishments and our goals for the future…
Since 1994, Animal Ark has served as a permanent and loving home for injured or otherwise non-releaseable wildlife and provided wildlife education to the northern nevada community and beyond…
Our OriginS
Animal Ark started as a dream, held by its founders Aaron and Diana Hiibel. They began a small wildlife rescue operation, originating from their lifelong fondness of animals. The full potential for Animal Ark as a rehabilitation center and wildlife sanctuary was realized when Aaron and Diana purchased the land located in Red Rock, at the time a vastly underdeveloped and rugged landscape. There, with the ingenuity and construction capabilities of Aaron, and the knowledge and deeply caring nature of Diana, Animal Ark was born.
The couple dedicated their lives to creating the sanctuary as a long term loving home for injured and non-releasable wildlife.
The sanctuary eventually grew from only native wildlife species into exotic species from across the globe. This sparked an interest in the cheetahs of Africa, and the couple has ventured to the country on several occasions.
While the operation has grown over the years in its size, at its core remains the goal of wildlife education and environmental stewardship.
With deep roots in the Northern Nevada community, Animal Ark looks to continue its mission in instilling that same love Aaron and Diana held for wildlife in future generations to come.
